  2. Overview OverviewTGCstructureCodestructureHistogramsSHIFTHistogramsEXPERTPlans for 09DQMF Stuff • TomBox (TGC Online Monitoring Box): A single machine for all TGC events via gigabit switch connected to 24 RODs. • GNAM(s): Modular code structure, several bi-subject segments implemented in standalone area (working properly under tdaq-01 tested with some problems under tdaq-02). not yet implemented in the combined area • SHIFT Histograms (~2000 currently): Almost all should be monitored by distinct DQMF segments with different tests. • EXPERT Histograms: Need to re-think on the division to SHIFT/ EXPERT histograms. Not monitored by DQMF. • ohpNexus: Very effective features, used for SHIFT histograms. • DQMF(s): Several segments with dedicated algorithms to apply on most of the SHIFT histograms. Implemented in standalone area (working properly under tdaq-01 tested with some problems under tdaq-02). not yet implemented in the combined area • New division: “Sector 13” defined as the inner wheel. 5. Histograms – SHIFT (ohpNexus) OverviewTGCstructureCodestructureHistogramsSHIFTHistogramsEXPERTPlans for 09DQMF Stuff • In the left column – Hits per unit (1 histogram per sector): Each bin corresponds to a single detector (unit) with a running numbering scheme. • In the right column – BC Timing (1 histogram per sector): 3 “X” bins (previous BC, current BC and next BC) TGC L1 On-Line Monitoring

  6. Histograms – SHIFT (dqmf 1) OverviewTGCstructureCodestructureHistogramsSHIFTHistogramsEXPERTPlans for 09DQMF Stuff • Hits per unit (1 histogram per sector): Each bin corresponds to a single detector (unit) with a running numbering scheme. • DQ Algorithm in use: Simple bin-to-bin comparison with a reference histogram (no good reference yet…). Also using Kolmogorov test. TGC L1 On-Line Monitoring

  7. Histograms – SHIFT (dqmf 2) OverviewTGCstructureCodestructureHistogramsSHIFTHistogramsEXPERTPlans for 09DQMF Stuff • BC Timing (1 histogram per sector): 3 “X” bins (previous BC, current BC and next BC). • DQ Algorithm in use: Simple percentage threshold test between the middle bin and its adjoining neighbours. TGC L1 On-Line Monitoring

  8. Histograms – EXPERT (ohpNexus) OverviewTGCstructureCodestructureHistograms SHIFTHistogramsEXPERT Plans for 09DQMF Stuff • In the left column – BC Timing per unit (1 histogram per sector): 3 “Y” bins (previous BC, current BC and next BC). • In the right column – Cluster Size per unit (1 histogram per sector): 40 “Y” bins. • Each “X” bin corresponds to a single detector (unit) with a running numbering scheme. TGC L1 On-Line Monitoring

  9. Histograms – More… (ohpNexus) OverviewTGCstructureCodestructureHistogramsSHIFTHistogramsEXPERT Plans for 09DQMF Stuff BC Timing Overview (per sector): 24 sectors as “X” bins. 3 “Y” bins Many more Shift/Expert Histograms… TGC L1 On-Line Monitoring

  10. Plans for 2009 OverviewTGCstructureCodestructureHistogramsSHIFTHistogramsEXPERTPlans for 09DQMF Stuff • Finish the migration to tdaq-02 • Test and debug all new GNAM(s) and DQMF(s) in the combined area together with TGC online DAQ expert (since many of the configurations can not be separated). This requires time, man-power, run-coordinators patience, etc. So,-- Allocate a dedicated period (at CERN, ~March-April) with presence of TGC (DAQ + Mon) experts in ACR for: ++ finish migrating to tdaq-02 ++ move to and debug in combined area. • Choose a sample of reference histograms to determine the “right” algorithm parameters, thresholds etc.-- hopefully before 1st beam this year… • Hardware... • Build (from scratch) the DQMF – Oracle – COOL interface. (Once everything is working in the combined area) • DQMD ? (not in high priority right now) TGC L1 On-Line Monitoring

  11. Stuff for DQMF talk OverviewTGCstructureCodestructureHistogramsSHIFTHistogramsEXPERTPlans for 09DQMF stuff • Overall status: TGC has currently 2 implemented segments in the TGC standalone area under tdaq-01. Not yet in the combined area and not yet under tdaq-02. • Histograms to check: Following the nature “trigger chamber”, we mainly perform simple tests of “physical item” occupancy (relative to some references) and BC timing (not relative). • Algorithms: Following the previous point, we programmed simple bin comparisons, Kolmogorov tests, and timing tests. The parameters and thresholds are trivial but not yet fine-tuned. • Major Problems / Issues / plans (wrt tdaq-02):-- Not yet managed to recompile everything under tdaq-02. -- To move the code and the xml(s) to the combined area.-- Determine what are “good” parameters / thresholds.-- To construct the DQMF-Oracle-COOL flow.-- DQMD ? • Plans wrt calibration stream:Not clear. Must finish all migrations & implementations in the combined area before. • Man Power: 1 PhD student + 1 3rd year (1st degree) project student. TGC L1 On-Line Monitoring
