  1. Writing to Propose a Solution

  2. How long does it have to be? • Maximum of three pages • Minimum of one and a half pages

  3. What can it be about? • Anything! Last year people wrote about anything from: • How to find a prom date • Staying neutral in parental divorce • How to pay for college • Issues that affect BEHS/Bristol • Issues that affect U.S. citizens

  4. What will make it successful? • If it is RELEVANT to you and your life. You are INTERESTED in this topic. • You complete all four drafts (brainstorming counts as draft one); each successful draft becomes better!

  5. Which writing style should I use? • This depends on your topic. Can you successfully write it in a humorous way? Does it need a more serious tone? Who will be your audience?

  6. Do I need citations and a bibliography? • Only if you need to quote statistics, research, another author, or uncommon knowledge to your audience. • If your paper involves a problem in Bristol and your audience includes citizens of Bristol, it will probably be “common knowledge.”

  7. When is it due?? • Brainstorming sheet: Tuesday, April 5th • First Draft: Friday, April 15th(Last Day before Spring Break!)
