  1. Professional Learning Network Collaborate Communicate Connect

  2. I created a Twitter account for the Module 2 PLN Flexlab. I did as instructed and followed about 21 people. However, I am not big fan of Twitter and instead, decided to use www.reddit.com as a means to engage in a PLN. Reddit is essentially a website in which users can submit links, and text-posts for other users to look at. Each post is submitted into a category or “subreddit.” Users may also create a playlist of subreddits called a “multireddit.” As such, I decided to create an Education multireddit with various subreddits about education and teaching.

  3. As you can see, my Education multireddit started out with only 3 subreddits, ‘education’, ‘teaching’ and ‘teachers’. These subreddits all related to teaching and education. Posts with the yellow dots beside them are posts that reflect some of the content covered in our EDU 210 course. We see one about the iPad project in Los Angeles and another about 4 EdTech resources. I would make the argument that this is more informative that a Twitter PLN.

  4. This is the “matheducation” subreddit. Users post various links and text posts about education and math. With math being my minor, this is a very informative subreddit to subscribe to. I can use this to find quality resources to share with my students and enhance their learning in math. More so, I can get advice from other teachers as is shown in the post titled, “How to respond to ‘is that a minus sing or a negative sign’.”

  5. This is the “teaching resources” subreddit. Users post various links and text posts relating to the various resources that teachers can use in their classroom. As a prospective teacher, these resources could prove quite useful. I have noted with a yellow dot 2 posts that are helpful to teachers. The first takes users to a website that notes 40 useful apps in relation to Edmodo. Having an Edmodo account already, this is a great post. The second noted post links to a discussion about the Khan Academy.

  6. Lastly, the EdTechsubreddit. Again, users post various links and text posts in regards to education technology. Not only does this subreddit provide useful information to teachers about Edtech and Edtech services, but also has supplemented my learning in EDU 210. I have highlighted a useful post with the yellow dot. This post takes users to a website that promotes 14 web tools that do not require student logins. There is little doubt that many students would forget their login information; this helps prevent that.

  7. This is a screenshot of my education multireddit taken on November 29, 2013. As you can see, my list of subscribed educational subreddits has grown from just 3 to 9. The math and history subreddits relate directly to my Social Studies major and Math minor and have tons of great resources that I will use in my IPT next semester. This PLN has been great because I have connected with teachers around the globe and seen and read the best that the internet has to offer in terms of education.
