  1. United Independent School District Pregnancy, Education, and Parenting Program P.E.P. Program

  2. GOALS The goal of the Pregnancy, Education, and Parenting (P.E.P.) Program is to reduce school dropouts, increase high school graduation rates, and enhance parenting skills for students who are pregnant or parents and at risk of dropping out of school.

  3. The Seven Program Objectives Individual Counseling, Peer Counseling, and Self-Help Programs Career Counseling and Job-Readiness Training Child Care for the students’ children on the campus or at a child care facility in close proximity to the campus Transportation for children of students to and from the campus or child care facility Transportation for students, as appropriate, to and from the campus or child care facility Instruction related to knowledge and skills in child development, parenting, and home and family living; and Assistance to students in the program in obtaining available services from government agencies or community service organizations, including prenatal and postnatal health and nutrition programs.

  5. What is P.R.S.? P.R.S. is a program that provides 2.41 weighted funding for school districts that deliver services to pregnant students Funding Source is Compensatory Education

  6. Compensatory Education Home Instruction (C.E.H.I.) • C.E.H.I. must be provided during the prenatal period and during the postpartum period as needed. • Prenatal C.E.H.I. must have a “Medical Statement for Home Instruction” from a medical practitioner recommending the period of confinement and identifying a medical diagnosis for the confinement. • Certified Teacher • Eye-to-eye individualized instructions • 4 hours a week= 5 days attendance • Maintain teacher’s log • Short weeks= one regular attendance day= one hour C.E.H.I. • Prenatal– Need “Medical Statement for Home Instruction”
