The event was important because they then new he was still after them and their fortune. With Aunt Josephine gone Count Olaf as Captain Sham filed for the custody of the Bauldelaire children. • The children later found a note explaining Aunt Josephine was held in Curdled Cave. • The children stole a ship from Olaf and went to get Aunt Josephine. They freed Aunt Josephine but Olaf threw her overboard into Lake Lachrymuse were she was attacked by leeches and died. • Sunny bit the peg leg of Captain Sham to reveal the “eye” tattoo and uncovered Count Olaf. • Olaf got away and the children were in search of a new caretaker.

  7. theme • The theme is to be thankful for all that you have in your life. • This theme best represents the story because it shows you what children go through went they lose their parent and all that they own but not in all cases. So just be thankful for all that you have.

  8. Personal book review I really liked the book The Wide Window. It was filled with action and mystery. There was not a dull moment. And it was always a page turner. I would definitely recommend this book to kids my age.
