Viglasky: Demonstration project “Replacement of brown coal fired boilers by a biomass fired boiler (Capacity: 605 kWth) at the School Forest Enterprise of the Technical University in Zvolen”; PSO 98/SK/2/16, Duration: 1 January - 30 June 2001, project completed. • J. Viglasky: "Financing Mechanisms for Sustainable Regional Energy Development in the Slovak Republic" VROM Project: DGM / IMZ / 200003715; Financed by The Dutch Government; Duration: April - December 2000. • J. Viglasky: "Amaranth phytomass for energy", this sub-project was carried out within the main project "Adaptability of Amaranth Growing and Utilisation in Slovakia", which was carried out at the Slovak Agriculture University in Nitra during years 1994-1997;

Main activities at the Technical University in Zvolen within bio-energy and environmental sector include: • Experimental research focused on environment protection of bio-energy systems; • To support biomass energy activities; • To organise conferences, seminars and workshops for local, regional and national government officials, manufacturers, investors and energy sector managers; • To carry out feasibility and market studies in energy sectors; • To develop new biomass energy investment projects; • Promotion and dissemination of bio-energy technologies and systems by way of publications, brochures and leaflets; • Preparation of information for Slovak media; • Organisation of media campaigns with the aim to increase public awareness in the area of energy savings;
