  2. Like in English some verbs just don’t know how to behave! They have a strong will and do their own thing. That’s why they are called strong verbs!The Past Participles of a lot of those strong verbs end in –EN. Many also have a vowel change (e.g. ‘Ich trinke  Ich habe getrunken’) and others are completely irregular! To make it a bit easier for you to learn the strong verbs, I have tried to put them into ‘logical groups’. Viel Glück!

Strong verbs – participles like the infinitive - no --ge vergessen(to forget) – Ich habe_vergessen(I forgot) Perfect Tense – strong verbs – vowel change ei ie AND ie  o schreiben(to write) – wir haben_geschrieben(we wrote) Perfect Tense – strong verbs – vowel change i u AND i o AND i  a trinken(to drink) – du hast_getrunken(you drank)
