  2. RECONSTRUCTION SONGverse 1 • When the war was over their was little hope • No president, no future, the south broke • When the nation was mourning the south was swarming • Their workers freed and their crops in need

  3. Verse 2 • But with sharecropping and Johnson America didn’t bleed. • A nation that was troubled was now not in need. • With new legislation and the ability to vote • The country became stronger and the blacks had hope

  5. Verse 3 • Their prayers were answered but the confederates still challenged • Not allowed to vote they hassled the repubs • Calling them scalawags and names as such • Still fighting even while the state was glidding.

  6. Verse 4 • But nobody cared, nobody stopped • They carried on an left them to the cops • The people were happy, and the states were justified. • Streets were being built and infrastructure arose
