Xenosmilus: The Unique Sabre-Toothed Cat of Prehistoric Florida

Xenosmilus, a genus of sabre-toothed cat, roamed the Earth 1 million years ago. This distinct carnivore measured about 5-6 feet long and weighed approximately 500-600 pounds. Characterized by its short muscular legs and broad upper canines, the Xenosmilus was an adept hunter. Discovered in Florida by amateur fossil hunters in the early 1980s, only two specimens have been unearthed. The exact timeline of their appearance and extinction remains uncertain, as well as the extent of their habitat.
