  1. 4thGrade goes to James A. Michener Art Museum !!

  2. Students explored the history of Bucks County Impressionism as they viewed masterpieces by the county’s most famous artists ! WoW !

  3. Students learned the history of the museum founder, James A. Michener . . . They even got the chance to observe writing tools that the famous author personally used while writing Hawii !!

  4. Some students chose a favorite piece. This painting would serve as the subject for their research paper upon returning to school.

  5. Students critiqued individual artworks using vocabulary from their “Formal Elements of Painting” lesson the previous week. I was impressed by the level of insight students showed as they assessed the way in which artists evoke certain emotion by using specific elements of design.

  6. Some students seemed to fall in love with a certain painting and wanted to get a really close look.

  7. In many ways, the trip helped students bond with one another. They used shared knowledge to form theories regarding the formal elements of the paintings. This process strongly impacted their interpersonal skills. Students bonded with one another over their common love for the artwork. They communicated with one another, sharing likes, dislikes, and observations.

  8. I love my teacher ! Students listened quietly as the museum docent explained the lifestyle of the Bucks County Impressionists. They showed respect and admiration for the docent regarding his thorough knowledge of the subject. This is fun ! I Love Art !

  9. Overall, the students represented the school very well. They were significantly enthusiastic regarding the subject matter at the museum. They behaved appropriately, followed instructions, and showed respect for the museum staff and for one another. A +

  10. A few of the students discovered a new found liking towards abstract expressionism.

  11. Student perused the museum shop. They purchased post cards with images of the artworks. Later, these images were used for reference in class.

  12. The class browsed the museum library selection and accumulated a wealth of knowledge regarding the history of Bucks County artists. My brain hurts !

  13. Students returned to schoolwith a new understanding of the history of the Bucks County Impressionists.
