  1. Welcome! To Miss Schmidt’s Third Grade Classroom

  2. A little About Myself • My name is Marla Schmidt • I grew up in Oklahoma • I love to read • I graduated college from Missouri Western State University • This is my first year teaching and I’m excited to see what this year brings!

  3. Third Grade Focus • During the course of the year, we will be working to help all third graders: • Prepare for standardized testing • Improve organizational skills • Jump to the next level of responsibility • Adjust to new intensity of work in all subject areas

  4. Classroom Rules 1. Listen carefully. 2. Follow all directions promptly. 3. Work quietly. Do not disturb others that are working. 4. Respect yourself, others, our school, and school property. 5. Raise your hand before speaking 6. Keep your desk and work area neat 7. Always use good manners.

  5. Daily Schedule 8:40-9:00 Morning work (D.A.R.E.S. & D.L.P.s) 9:00-11:15 Writer’s & Reader’s Workshop 11:15-11:40 Spelling 11:45-12:15 Lunch 12:15-12:45 Recess 12:45-1:00 Class Read Aloud 1:00-2:00 Math 2:00-2:40 Science/Social Studies 2:40-3:20 PE or Music 3:20-3:30 Prepare to dismiss

  6. Supplies Needed 12 - #2 Pencils 2 - Glue Sticks 1 - Box of Tissues 1 - Pink Eraser 8 - Broad Tip Markers 1 - Pair of Scissors 1 - Pencil Case 2 -Spiral Bound Notebooks 4 - Pocket Folders 12 - Pencil Crayons 2 - Loose Leaf Paper

  7. Homework • Students will receive a homework packet every Monday that is to be turned in each Friday morning. • The packets will include assignments from the following content areas: • Reading • Mathematics • Tutoring will be available Monday-Thursday after school. A schedule will be posted soon! 
