  1. Laps for Love PRESENTED BY THE LAPS FOR LOVE BOARD

  2. History • Laps for Love was founded in 2015 by then 10-year-old Grace Daniels. It was created to help end homelessness and addiction in the Charlotte area through the sport of swimming. • Thanks to our sponsors, 100% of the money raised by Laps for Love is donated to Charlotte Rescue Mission. • In the first year, Laps for Love raised$11,500 and an official board was created to help with the growing event. • In 2016, the event grew to include 6 GCSL teams and raised $25,465. • In 2017, we moved the event to the MCAC, invited 16 teams, and raised $74,000. • Last year, 20 teams were invited and we raised $65,000. • In total, Laps for Love has raised$175,965 since its founding for Charlotte Rescue Mission!

  3. Charlotte Rescue Mission • Mission Statement: • “Charlotte Rescue Mission is transforming lives in the name of Jesus Christ by serving people impacted by addiction to equip them to thrive in the community.” • Charlotte Rescue Mission provides free, Christian-based residential recovery services to those struggling with addiction, poverty, and homelessness. • Their program is split into 3 sections: • Rebound for Men • Dove’s Nest for Women and Families • Community Matters Cafe • Charlotte Rescue Mission incorporates the love of Christ while giving these people a new chance at life. • They serve over 600 people annually with a sobriety success rate of 80%! The national average is only 21%.

  4. 2019 Goals • Have fun! • Raise $75,000 to reach a combined total of $250,000 • Increase the number of swimmers from 285 to 315 • Continue the relationship with our existing sponsors and develop a relationship with new sponsors • Have another successful year so that we can positively impact even more lives through Charlotte Rescue Mission

  5. How The Youth Benefits • We show kids that even though we do not have as much power or responsibility, we can still make a difference in our community. • As youth, it is very beneficial to experience being generous to others and not think of ourselves. When we become adults, we will have generous helping hearts. • We show others that youth are an important and productive part of our community. • We can show adults that our age does not define the size of our hearts. • We demonstrate by example how people should be involved in their community.

  6. How The Community Benefits • Our community will become a better place with less poverty and more hope. • Those who donate to us and Charlotte Rescue Mission have a tax deduction. • Those who participate will have fun while doing good for others in the community. • It is an event where families, teams, neighbors and friends can enjoy spending time together while helping their community.

  7. Event Description • This swim event encourages swimmers to collect pledges and donations from their family members, friends, and neighbors. There is an electronic donation option if desired. • Our sponsors provide dinner for the whole family for free to incorporate a family environment and make it easy to attend. It is a fun night out. • We have fun activities such as raffles, live music, sponsorship booths, competitions, and give out lots of prizes. • The event is a 30 minute relay race between teams. There is no requirement to the number of swimmers on each team. Swimmers continue to rotate until the time expires.

  8. Event Description (Cont.) • Each relay leg is 25 yards and swimmers can swim any stroke. • Families and friends come along to cheer on swimmers and see our fundraising in action. • Pastor Relay – “Race the Rev.” • Ducky Dive

  9. Why We Need Sponsors • We need financial support from our sponsors to help us pay our event costs like: • Renting the pool • Paying for food for participants and families. This encourages them to participate. • T-shirts and prizes • We are able to turn every sponsor dollar into $11.13 for the Charlotte Rescue Mission. • We also need our sponsors to spread the word of our organization to other companies. Many of our new sponsors have heard about us through an existing sponsor. • Without our amazing sponsors, Laps for Love wouldn’t exist today.

  10. Cost Breakdown • We had 285 swimmers participate in 2018. • We provided dinner, dessert, and Diamond Springs water for 812 attendees. • Laps for Love distributed 285 LFL t-shirts and 100 Race the Rev t-shirts. • Total cost per swimmer was $25. This included food, pool rental, t-shirts, prizes, signs, sponsor gifts, etc. • The average donation per swimmer was $228 which was 912% of each dollar spent
