  3. Mission Statement • PAQ offers a challenging yet fun atmosphere to foster our athletes' physical, social, and emotional development. We do this through our emphasis on (P) PARTICIPATION (A) ACHIEVEMENT (Q) QUALITY in everything that our swimmers do, in the pool and out. We encourage swimmers to set challenging goals for themselves and for the team, and to see themselves as accountable for reaching those goals. PAQ relies on strong family participation, and we encourage parents to provide positive support and volunteer for club duties. PAQ'S aim is to help our athletes grow in their swimming abilities, perseverance and team commitment to reach the goals they set for themselves and for their team

  5. Year in Review • Many returning families…provide experience and stability • Lots of new families…enthusiasm is contagious, new volunteers welcome • Team travel was well-received by kids and parents. More this year! • Many team events that the kids really enjoyed

  6. Parent Survey • Surveys returned for 42% of swimmers • For all questions, numerical responses positive. Website/email scored highest • Lots of Positive Comments: coaches “inspiring,” “don’t change a thing,” “we love PAQ!” • PAQ Executive Committee will meet to develop areas for further improvement. On the list: communication beyond website and email

  7. State Meet • PAQ will host the Hawaiian State Swimming Championship Meet, Dec 17-20 • All Hands On Deck! We need everyone’s help in some capacity • Some important jobs filled, some still open, please sign up online • THANKS to our Meet Director, David Copp

  8. State Meet Wish List • 2 High-speed copy machines • Printing for the meet program booklet • 2 Gas grills for Concessions • Tents (1-10’x20’, 7-10’x10’) and Tarps • T-shirts for Volunteers (sponsorship can be printed on the shirts)

  9. State Meet Wish List • General Corporate donations and Sponsorships (can be acknowledged with ads in program) • Star power for ceremonial program and/or awards! • Lots and Lots of Sunshine

  10. Elections • Nominate • The Head Coach chairs the Nominating Committee and presents nominee(s) • Vote • Each swimmer gets one vote. Parents vote for minor children • Voting for President and Treasurer • Vice President, Secretary elected last year. All serve 2 year terms

  13. Treasurer’s report • PAQ financial status Breaking even for 2009-2010 Dues similar to last year -Fees increased slightly 2010-2011 budget showing break even -States, PAQ Slippers fundraisers

Registration report • Dues • Small adjustments from last year • 1995: Blue dues/USA/initiation = $785 • 2010: Blue $800, Gold $1040, SR $1220 • Registration update: • SEPT 09: 108 (62 Blue/Sil/Gold, 46 Jr/Sr) • SEPT 10: 156 (92 Blue/Sil/Gold, 64 Jr/Sr) • 129 returning • 27 new (tryouts, PASS, 7 transfers in)

  17. Volunteer opportunities • At the meets • 1st arrival…stake out a spot for PAQ tent • Greet other parents, especially new parents. Show them the ropes, where to sit, etc. • Timers are always needed. Please help, even after you have 20 hours. Mahalo! • Photographers and reporters for website • Remember, PAQ tents are for swimmers only!

  18. PAQ Calendar • PAQ hosts the Hawaiian State Swimming Championships! • 4 Days: Fri, Dec 17 – Mon, Dec 20 • All Hands on Deck! Lots of fun, lots of work, great for our kids • March 18-20: Western Region SC Sectionals (Seattle) • April 9-10: Kauai Classic – entire team is welcome and encouraged to come! • July 14-17: Hawaiian State Swimming Championships (Maui)

  21. 2009/2010 Year in Review • Building -Team grew to 156 swimmers • Restructuring -New Junior, Varsity groups -A path for every PAQ swimmer • Transforming -Raising expectations for swimmers, team.

How You Can Help • Support your coach and your swimmer • Volunteer your time…plenty of jobs to do • Keep tents for swimmers only at meets • Do more than just think about being a meet official…contact Ellen, go to training, complete the program. We can’t have meets without officials. • Thanks!

  23. Team Goals • Team placing at Age Group Sectionals (4th or better) • 2 relays qualify for age group sectionals • Top 4 team finish at Age Group States • 5 Senior Sectional Qualifiers • 90% of the team competes in at least 4 meets • 90% of the team gets at least 1 A time

  24. Team Goals, cont. • At least 80 Swimmers achieve an AA time (0ver 50% of team) • 50 individual swimmers compete at Age Group State Championships (December or July) • 3 Winning relays at age group states in December or July • Active practice participation (70% attendance as a team)
