Henderson State University • Established in 1890 • Public Liberal Arts University • Fall enrollment: • Undergraduate: 3,119 (87%) • Graduate: 470 (13%) • TOTAL: 3,589 • Degree Programs: • 40 Bachelors, 13 Masters, and 1 Specialist • Divided into three colleges • Ellis College of Arts and Sciences, Teachers College, and School of Business

History of Assessment • During last HLC PEAQ Comprehensive Evaluation in 2001-2002 Henderson was required to undergo a Focus Visit on Assessment in 2006-2007 • Director was hired in Spring 2003 • University purchased TracDat in June 2005 and rolled it out to the academics in Fall 2005 • University selected iWebfolio to replace LiveText in Fall 2005 • Piloted iWebfolio in Teachers College in Fall 2006 and Spring 2007

Teachers College and NCATE • Henderson must provide evidence of Candidate Knowledge, Skills, and Professional Dispositions • iWebfolio allows for ease in providing data from raters (University supervisors, public school supervisors, and self/peer reviewers) by using imbedded rubrics • Samples of work can be shared with others to demonstrate abilities and to showcase knowledge, skills, and dispositions • Provides evidence of knowledge of use of technology

  5. iWebfolio and Teachers College • iWebfolio seemed like a natural fit for Teachers College • Ability to develop templates, add reflections, and self-rate tools • A group of faculty and staff developed a portfolio template in Spring 2006 • An action plan was developed to insure buy-in from everyone • Feedback was gathered throughout the process from faculty and administration from Teachers College

  11. iWebfolio Roll-Out:Pilot Program

  12. iWebfolio Pilot • iWebfolio Pilot (Fall 2006 and Spring 2007) • During the pilot process we offered a training session before each semester • Developed a WebCT course for each student using iWebfolio to join in order for helpful tips and easy feedback on problems • Made some changes to template and way students are trained using the product because of the feedback from the interns

  13. iWebfolio Progress • Student interns were required to develop portfolios using iWebfolio during the Fall 2007 • Fall 2007 the Exit Interview included a scoring rubric for the electronic portfolio • Data collected from the rubric was imported into TracDat • Now being introduced in Instructional Technology during sophomore year

  14. iWebfolio Training • Hands-On Training workshops are held for incoming teacher interns during their pre-semester meeting • Basics for uploading files, items, and websites as well as editing content areas • How to work with the template • Provide a copy of the survival guide • Four “Workdays” are scheduled during the semester (two are in the evenings and two are on a Saturday) • The Online Learning Services Coordinator provides support for iWebfolio through the Multi-Media Learning Center

  25. Extend Use of iWebfolio • Summer 2008- Make minor changes to Teachers College Portfolio to better gather data for specific programs • Fall 2008- Begin development of School of Business Template • Fall 2008- Complete the development of portfolio for Henderson State University Assessment
