  2. Introduction The sudden drop in temperature can significantly affect the performance of your car engine. Here are a few engine maintenance tips that can come in handy, particularly during the tome of the winters.

  3. Changing the oil regularly The degree of impact from dirty oil increases significantly in the winter months. That’s because a lower temperature makes the oil more viscous. Thicker oil has a more restricted flow through the engine. Therefore, it’s always advisable to change your oil before the winter months arrive.

  4. Is your cooling system in order? The cooling system consists of the radiator, water pump, thermostat and coolant. The engine coolant can become contaminated and the anti-freeze can be less effective. Therefore, it’s advisable to have your cooling system serviced before the winter months arrive.

  5. Replacing your fuel filter The fuel filter helps to protect your engine from particles and harmful sediments within the fuel tank. If the fuel filter has been in place for a long time, it might be a good idea to replace it as soon as possible, especially before the winter months arrive.

  6. Warm up your engine You achieve this through the aid of a remote car starter or you can just allow your car to stay idle for around 60 seconds before driving away. Performing a vehicle check-up It’s an excellent idea to perform an annual vehicle check-up just prior to winter.
