  1. Safe Driving Tips for Teens on the Road

  2. Teens are the most at risk drivers on the road, crashing 4 times more frequently than senior adults. Car crashes are one of the leading causes of death in the age group 18 to 20. Initial years behind the wheel are the most dangerous. The death rate for male teenage drivers is two times higher than their female counterparts. Let’s take a look at some of the causes behind these concerning statistics.

  3. Inadequate Experience As teenage drivers are still learning to drive, they are much more likely to make critical mistakes. Teenagers often underestimate the condition of hazardous roads due to their inexperience.

  4. Seat Belt Usage Compared to other age groups, teenagers are less likely to use their seat belts. Teenagers with other passengers in the car are more prone to having accidents due to the distraction of others in the car.

  5. Distracted Driving Distracted driving creates risk for all ages of drivers. However, unfortunately, this risk is higher for teenage drivers. Avoiding the use of cell phones is a must, when driving or even when sitting close to the driver.

  6. Speed Limit Excessive speed is a major contributor to fatal accidents. Accidents are also more common when driving in high volumes of traffic for obvious reasons.

  7. Safety Tips for Teens Do not drive recklessly. Reckless driving is hazardous to others and to yourself. Avoid driving at night. As driving skills are still developing, darkness makes it more difficult for an inexperienced driver. Do not drive for long distances and always ensure you are fully alert. Never drink or take drugs when driving.
