  4. Approach a dealer and ask if they’ll buy it into stock Some dealers buy private plates into stock, which they will then look to sell on at a profit. When a dealer purchases a plate they are tying up capital and they are taking a risk on timescales to sell at a profit. Some dealers are reluctant to buy unless the balance of risk and reward is in their favor. Any that do offer you cash for your plate, will offer you significantly less than the market value of the plate. This is understandable as they’re taking a risk and they need to return a profit.
