Environmental Justice The United States Environmental Protection Agency defines environmental justice as "the fair treatment and meaningful involvement of all people regardless of race, color, sex, national origin, or income with respect to the development, implementation and enforcement of environmental laws, regulations, and policies." Charn- Young Chung

  5. Many studies show that there is a disproportionate amount of pollution in communities occupied by the poor and minorities. • These communities must deal with the adverse effects of pollution while more affluent communities remain unscathed. • The impact of exposure to these hazards significantly affects the quality of life in these areas. What can we do? Identify problem areas, engage in cleaner production, focus on affected communities. Joshua Rivard
