Mark 10:43-45 • (43) "Yet it shall not be so among you; but whoever desires to become great among you shall be your servant. • (44) "And whoever of you desires to be first shall be slave of all. • (45) "For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.

  12. John 12:42-43 • (42) Nevertheless even among the rulers many believed in Him, but because of the Pharisees they did not confess Him, lest they should be put out of the synagogue; • (43) for they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God.

  13. John 5:44 • How can you believe, who receive honor from one another, and do not seek the honor that comes from the only God?

  14. Weights Which Hinder Us... Desire For Worldly Success • Great in God’s mind or in man’s eyes? • (Mk.10:43-45)(Jo.12:42-43)(Jo.5:44) • Why is this a “WEIGHT”? • Because you may have to lose “worldly success” in order to remain faithful to God (Mt.10:22-25) (1Co.4:11-13,16) “Whoever desires to become great among you shall be your servant”

  16. Matthew 10:22-25 • (24) "A disciple is not above his teacher, nor a servant above his master. • (25) "It is enough for a disciple that he be like his teacher, and a servant like his master. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more will they call those of his household!

  17. 1 Corinthians 4:11-13,16 • (11) To the present hour we both hunger and thirst, and we are poorly clothed, and beaten, and homeless. • (12) And we labor, working with our own hands. Being reviled, we bless; being persecuted, we endure;

  18. 1 Corinthians 4:11-13,16 • (13) being defamed, we entreat. We have been made as the filth of the world, the offscouring of all things until now. • (16) Therefore I urge you, imitate me.

  19. Weights Which Hinder Us...
