  7. ‘Squaring up to the Challenge – A Partnership Approach’ • Government’s Aim (5-19 years) • All 5-16 yr olds have access to 2 hours high quality PE and 3 hours sport beyond the curriculum (5 hr offer) • All 16 -19 yr olds have 3 hours of sport outside the curriculum • Government’s Vision for Sport Unlimited (3 years) • “To ensure up to 900,000 children and young people in the 5 -19 age range from the ‘semi sporty’ population segment take up an additional 2 hours of term time high quality sports activities ‘through attractive provision designed to stimulate and increase take up and sustain participation”

  9. ‘Squaring up to the Challenge – A Partnership Approach’ CSP’s are the accountable body for the initiative CSP’s have to report to Sport England on 3 KPI’s 6 times per yr KPI 1 ‘Participants’ The number of young peopleregisteringand taking part in at least one session in a term-time series lasting a minimum of 8 weekly sessions of sports activity. KPI 2 ‘Throughput’ Attendance, the cumulative total number of participants taking part at the series of sessions. KPI 3 ‘Retain’ The number of participants who attend at least 60% of the weekly sessions in a term-time series, i.e. 5 weeks for an 8 week series, 6 weeks for a 9 or 10 week series.

  12. ‘Squaring up to the Challenge – A Partnership Approach’ The story so far……after 1 year (2 terms) KPI 1 – Participants Overall 3 yr target = 21,555 for all 8 SSP’s Yr 1 Target = 4,867 participants Yr 1 Achieved = 2,283 participants KPI 2 - Throughput Overall 3 yr target = 122,512 for all 8 SSP’s Yr 1 Target = 27,664 Yr 1 Achieved = 14,694 KPI 3 - Retention Overall 3 yr target = 15,314 for all 8 SSP’s Yr 1 Target = 3,458 Yr 1 Achieved = 1,651
