  1. Closing Unit 5 We’ve read selections that all center around a border being crossed. In class you’ll cross your own border with someone you don’t really know or haven’t ever talked to. • Pick a partner, someone you don’t know very well. • Come up with 10 questions to ask them interview style. • Write a 250 word summary of what you learned about the person and whether or not you crossed a border together.

  2. Start Prepping • On a separate piece of paper in your notebook, brainstorm the ten questions you will ask your partner. Make sure to leave space so you can record their answers. • You will turn in your handwritten interview, questions and answers. • Ask questions about the things you want to know about the person. • It’s really insulting when a person is obviously going through the motions with stuff like “what’s your favorite color/food?” “how tall are you?”

  3. Here are a few example questions: • Are you originally from Lawrence? • Do you believe in ghosts? • What happened on your best day ever? • If you had to kiss one person in this class, who would it be? • Is Ms. Mense your favorite teacher? Why or WHY NOT?

  4. Bell Work1/24/14 Engl. 9- Move around today. Pick a partner, someone you don’t know well. Spread out and sit together.

  5. Crossing Borders Interview • I will collect your handwritten questions with answers from your interviewee recorded with your written piece. (30 pts.) • Once you have chatted and conducted your interviews, write (250 words minimum) about the person you got to know and reflect on the experience of meeting someone new. (50 pts.) • Due today or Monday, depending on how long interviews take.
