  2. Today’s Session Will Include: Cha-cha-cha Changes!: Improvements made to the IVPS program Fabulous Fourth Grade: Items specific to fourth Grade 3. Q&A The BIG Step!

What’s New; Policies • Elluminate Requirements- • Students must attend 4 live sessions each month • Lessons will cover K12 curriculum as much as possible and will align to where the majority of students are at in the courses. • Parent Conferences- • One parent phone conference will be held each month • Skills Check- • Students will do a live assessment • via Elluminate once a month with • me over Indiana Standards The BIG Step!

What’s New; Procedures Work Samples-All work samples will be mailed to me instead of scanned and sent ScantronAcheivement Series (Quick Quizzes)- I will kmail weekly test numbers on Friday for the test being taken on Monday so that you can take them over the weekend if you prefer. All students must take tests by Monday@4:00. Students scoring below 80% will need to attend Skill Building sessions on Thursdays. The BIG Step!

  5. What’s New; Courses • Math (Red)- for all 4th grade students • You may not write in the books • Use a plastic sheet protector, notebook, or lined paper in a folder • Mark 12 Reading-For emergent readers The BIG Step!

  6. Items Specific to Fourth Grade Indiana History- 1. Indiana History will be taught completely through Elluminate. 2.Students will need to complete weekly assignments in order to receive credit for that specific lesson. 3. Indiana History is a required course for all 4th grade students in Indiana. 4. Optional learning outings will coordinate with Indiana History subjects as much as possible. Students will need to complete the regular k12 History course with their LC. The BIG Step!

  7. Community Building: Local Connections Purpose: to coordinate study sessions, play dates, local outings. Purpose: to find other LCs for support and encouragement Check the Big Think for families in your area! Local group outings??? The BIG Step!

  8. Community Building: Clubs *IVPS will be adding extracurricular clubs to our school this year. *I will be hosting an online cooking club each Friday starting in October for 1st semester. *More clubs will be added as the year progresses. The BIG Step!

  9. Community Building: Book Clubs *Teachers in grades 3-6 will be hosting book clubs throughout the year. *My first club will start Oct. 1. We will be reading, “Sarah, Plain and Tall.” *All sessions will count towards completion of the novel portions of the Literature course for 4th grade. The BIG Step!

  13. My goals for the year: • Guide and assist families to ensure student success • Create meaningful online instructional opportunities for all students • Keep track of and analyze data in order to tailor the educational paths for each student based upon student needs

How does this work? • You will complete lessons at home with your student. • I will check in once a month with you via telephone for a parent conference. • I will check in with your student once a month via Elluminate during a skills check. • Each student will attend at least • 4 Elluminate class sessions a month

  16. What are LC requirements? • Contact me if anything comes up (computer issues, work completion issues, questions). • Complete and mark lessons each week. • Complete and mark attendance each week. • Students attend 4 Elluminate sessions a month

  17. What are LC requirements? • Attend monthly parent/student conferences • Complete Scantron testing weekly • Attend ISTEP testing • Mail work samples on a quarterly basis

What is Elluminate? • Elluminate is an online classroom for group or individual instruction • We will have 2 Elluminate sessions daily (some whole group, some small group) • Lessons will be targeted both to help you complete lessons and to bridge learning gaps for students • You may attend sessions taught by • Mrs. Blewett, Ms. Smith, • Ms. Koesters, or Ms. Nichols
