  3. JFF & CREDENTIALS THAT WORK ABOUT JFF JFF identifies, develops, and promotes education and workforce strategies that expand opportunity for youth and adults who are struggling to advance in America today. In more than 200 communities across 43 states, JFF improves the pathways leading from high school to college to family-sustaining careers. ABOUT CREDENTIALS THAT WORK Credentials that Work (CTW) incorporates innovations in real-time labor market data in guiding institutions to better align education and training investments with the needs of regional economies. Real-time data can help improve the understanding of hiring trends, employer demand, including certifications and skill requirements by drawing on current information and consistent signals from the labor market.

  4. IMPLEMENTATION MODEL

  5. IMPORTANCE OF LMI Data-driven Decisions

  6. DATA-DRIVEN DECISIONS

  7. TRADITIONAL LMI Benefits Limitations Looking backward/lacking current labor market perspective Static/not dynamic Lacks data on current demand/employers’ requirements Does not effectively capture emerging occupations/skill requirements/certifications • Reliable and robust • Consistent and documented methodologies • Time series and regional comparisons • Public, no-cost distribution

  8. WHAT IS REAL-TIME LMI? • Real-time LMI is made up of job postings by occupation obtained from Internet job boards, company websites, and newspapers using spidering technology. • Data are collected with regular frequency and de-duplicated. • Data are parsed to produce information on hiring requirements including education, experience, skills, and certifications. • Data provide indications of current trends, emerging occupations, and current and emerging skill requirements.

  9. REAL-TIME DATA VALUE CAVEATS Sourced from thousands of sites Varying data quality Designed for recruitment not analysis Constant fluctuation Influenced by factors unrelated to real changes in labor demand Duplication and de-duplication issues • Track demand for programs • Track emergent certifications • Identify new areas/opportunities • Align curriculum to skill requirements • Improve employer outreach and engagement • Conduct skill-based analysis of job clusters
