Alignment Rockford Board (ARB) Connect community with executivedistrict leadership • ROLES: An ambassador and resource to connect community with executive district leadership. • RESPONSIBILITIES: • Catalyze change environment and support high school redesign • Identify employment growth sectors • Identify workforce needs and competitive advantage opportunities • Identify student interests • Collaboratively recommend academies/pathways to Board of Education • Support equitable resource distribution among high schools and academies • Recruit and Maintain Career & College Readiness Council members • Jointly evaluate community supports and academy outcomes • Communicate outcomes to broader community

  6. College & Career Readiness Councils (CCRC) Connect community with district administration Business, Arts, Marketing & Information Tech. (BAMIT) Engineering, Manufacturing, Industrial & Tech Trades (EMITT) Health Sciences (HS) Human and Public Services (HPS) • ROLES: An ambassador and resource to connect community with district administration • RESPONSIBILITIES: • Connect industry clusters to district administration • Identify gaps between workforce needs and workforce competencies for curriculum alignment • Advise so that curriculum meets college-readiness and professional standards • Identify essential industry and business skills for integration into curriculum • Advise on facility and equipment needs • Recruit and maintain academy support teams • Collaborate to garner support from public and private grant sources • Support equitable resource distribution among high schools/academies • Monitor community support and student performance outcomes

Academy Support Teams (AST) • -Connect community with teachers and students- Auburn BAMIT EMITTHS HPS East BAMIT EMITTHS HPS Guilford BAMIT EMITTHS HPS Jefferson BAMIT EMITTHS HPS • ROLES: An ambassador and resource to connect community with teachers and students. • RESPONSIBILITIES: • Connect school staff and students with local community organizations • Develop annual academy project(s) with business or other community organizations • Identify and communicate unmet academy needs to CCRCs • Facilitate work-based and service learning opportunities • Arrange teacher externships • Support equitable resource distribution between academies and pathways • Support school sponsored parent awareness & involvement activities to increase parent and student expectations/aspirations • Development of in- and out- of school student learning experiences

Current Implementation Process • Hiring a College and Career Academy Coach for Jefferson High School • Three more will be hired in the spring for Auburn, East, and Guilford • Professional Development for Freshmen Academy at Jefferson High School • Week of July 30 – Aug 3; focused on team processes • Hosted Pathway Selection Meeting on July 17th • Developed “Filters” for choosing high school pathways

Next Steps; Short Term (0 – 6 mo.) • High School Planning Guide • Ready for proposal by late October • Final approval by December • Engage staff, parents, and students in planning guide review process • Assemble & Organize College and Career Readiness Councils (CCRCs) • Support 8th and 9th Grade Seminar • Academy Awareness Presentations • Promote buy-in and readiness for academy launch

Next Steps, Mid Term (6 mo – 1 year) • Support staffing and training teachers for pathways • Identify candidates • Develop and support externship opportunities • Support process to equip teachers • Recruit Academy Support Teams (ASTs) • Work directly with students and teachers • Identify and Pursue Grants/Funding

  12. Next Steps; Long Term (Beyond 1 year) • Support equitable resource distribution among high schools/academies • Monitor community support and student performance outcomes • Suggest modifications to pathways based on performance outcomes
