  2. Romantic 1800’s to 1900’s • The romantic architecture style is reminiscent of the past and of things from old times. • It evokes a spirit of average age times. • Romantic architecture is usually found in places near train stations or in old time homes, they commonly have large gardens.

  3. Historical Event • 1740’s: The Gothic Revival occurred during the romantic architectural period it is parallel of the medieval style but in contrast to classic architecture. • Influence: Gothic style of architecture is also very reminiscent of the past with high pointed roof tops. • (Boston college) (left)

  4. Artistic Movement • In the late 18th Century the neoclassicism was perpetuated by monumental forms serving the political ambitions of the Second Empire of Napoleon III. Later, an eclectic style based on both classical and baroque architecture emerged in the work of architects trained at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts. • Buildings such as Jean Louis Charles Garnier's Paris Opera played an important role in the modernization of the city during the Second Empire.

  5. Asha’s Building • The woodland chapel by: Erick Gunnar Asplund • Built in: 1918 to 1920 • Located in: Stockholm, Sweden • I chose the woodland chapel because it is a great example of romantic architecture. It has a high selling and a pointed roof

  6. Art & Architecture • Artist: Jacques-Louis David • Title: The Oath of the Horatii • Date:1784 • I chose this piece of art because the openings in the background reminds me of the opening of the chapel. And the columns remind me of the columns on the inside the chapel.

  7. Asha’s Original Floor Plan • Name: Oasis Hills Location: The Hills of California • Description: all the rooms are big. There are two floors. It has an old time feel to it with modern twist.
