  1. RA-2/MWR Level 2 algorithms verification • Level 2 algorithms verification approach • Tasks break-down • Data requirements

  2. Tasks break-down • Today -> (launch + 4 months): • field by field verification on a sub-set of TDS • analysis of the differences between TDS and IPF/F-PAC/BUFR • performance of the processing on a complete TDS • statistical analysis • study of the retracking optimisation • verification after any on-board modification

  3. Tasks break-down • from (launch + 4 months) on: • update SADs: • SOI (retracker optimisation, rain table, etc.), ICT, SSB, MSS, ODLE, surface type • field by field verification, focused only on the modified fields • analysis of the differences between TDS and IPF/F-PAC/BUFR • performance and statistics • investigation of issues raised within CCVT • update of the EM bias using real “stable” data

  4. Tasks break-down • from (launch + 4 months) on: • verification of dual frequency ionospheric correction: • bias and correlation with other sources (e.g. Bent, JASON, T-P) • RA-2/MWR Product Handbook update

  5. Data requirements • Type of data • Level 1b • L1b data from ESL reference processor • L1b data from IPF (only if L1b TDS vs. L1b from IPF already compared and verified) • Level 2 • Level 2 data from IPF • for comparison with L2 ESL TDS • Level 2 auxiliary files

  6. Data requirements • Amount of data • few selected records • field by field verification • to be re-done if any on-board modification

  7. Data requirements • Amount of data • ~1 whole product • covering equator and meridian crossings and full range of resolutions • including a track over Greenland or Antarctica • to check slope models and Delta Doppler • data needed for IPF vs. ESL TDS comparisons • performance of the processing and statistical analysis
