1. Admitting to being less competent can be hard. But it’s important that one face the facts and work on them. Despite having four years of experience in IT service management, I didn’t really have what it takes to take on projects on my own. There were times when I felt lost when new employees in my department would talk using technical jargon. I had enough one day and decided to take control of things. I couldn’t claim to be a senior resource without really understanding half of the terms I came across. And that’s why I decided to get ITIL certified. I’ve known about ITIL 4 since a couple of my friends were certified and seemed to be advancing in their jobs. But more than a certification, I knew I needed formal training. With work getting more hectic, especially due to COVID-19, I knew that taking even a day off would be close to impossible. Luckily, LearningCert helped. Attending the virtual ITIL 4 Foundation training allowed me to dedicate a few hours to learning the certification material with an accredited trainer. And I knew I was in the right place because the trainer was certified as well, so they offered their own experiences to ensure I pass the exam. While I’m still at the beginning of my ITIL certification journey, I’m glad to say that I feel more confident at work. Not only do I understand conversations, I’m actually taking part in them. And even my bosses have started asking my opinions about our processes. While I didn’t post about becoming ITIL 4 certified, I guess they noticed the change in me and are reacting accordingly.
