  3. Cape Elizabeth High School Original mechanical systems from the 1960’s need to be replaced school-wide. When Kindergarten was included, High School enrollment was less than 400. High School enrollment is expected to reach 600 in 2004-05.

Increased Special Ed Needs • Special education population is growing • Resources need to be provided for a variety of disabilities • In 2002-03 there are... • More students than ever with varied special needs • Less classroom space than ever • Additional space is needed for... • Standard programs • New technical equipment for book scanning, computer programs and life skills training.   6. High School Parking • The parking at the High School is very close and cars are often parked illegally. Many people park in “no parking zones” where fire trucks should be able to get in. • Making the parking lots bigger should fix this.

  7. Ceilings Are Falling Apart MOST OF THESE CEILINGS ARE DAMAGED BY PIPE BURSTS !

  8. Scott Shea Talks About The Gym • The gym floor has no cushioning. It is laid right on cement and causes many injuries. • The gym roof leaks. • The bleachers are old and very hard to pull out and push back in.

  9. High School Cafeteria Needs More Space • Kids sit on the radiators and on the floor in the hallways. • Each kid should have a table and chair to sit and eat lunch.

  11. HS Needs Storage Space! • These two ladies (behind the soccer goals) work in this storage area. It is an office and a storage room! • The Gym/Athletic equipment and uniform storage are spilling in hallways.

  12. Band Room • This room is supposed to be used for band practice. It doubles as a storage room.

  13. Science Labs Need New Equipment • The science materials are about 33 years old. • Science technology has changed in the last 33 years and they need updated equipment. • The storage space and the sinks are revolting!!

  14. Cape Elizabeth High School Places that Need Work • Seating Space in Cafeteria • Gym Floor • Parking Space • ADA Mandated Access Areas • Special Ed Resources • Science Lab Updating • Art Program Resources • Phone Lines For Teachers • Replacing Building Mechanics • Storage Space

  15. Pond Cove School • Pond Cove is the recommended location for the new Kindergarten

  18. Kindergarten Needs More Space, Too <--Here, kids are crammed into the kitchen to learn with a teacher! <-- Kids also get special help in the Occupational Therapy Room which doubles as a storage room.
