  2. Introduction • Three Primary Focus Areas: • DATIM (Design and Analysis Tool for Inventory and Monitoring) – Liz Burrill • Domestic I&M Projects – Jim Westfall • International Technical Assistance – Andy Lister

DATIM • Consists of 4 Primary Components • DTIM • Assists in designing forest inventories to meet objectives • Information needs approach -> field efficiency • Precision/sample size calculator • ATIM • Analytical tool to produce tables of estimates • FIADB data available; standard and custom reports possible • DWM, Understory Veg, GRM in progress • Vision: Next generation FIA reporting tool

  4. DATIM • SIT (Spatial Intersection Tool) • Add spatial attributes to existing data • Allows NFS use of actual plot locations (NFS lands only) • DCS (Data Compilation System) • Add FVS attributes to existing data • Import FSVeg data for analysis

  5. DATIM • Initially NFS funded, now NFS/FIA funding (IRDB) • Version 5.0 publicly available; 6.0 due 12/31/16 http://www.fs.fed.us/emc/rig/DATIM/index.shtml • Development work ongoing in all components • FS R&D • FS NFS • UNLV Developers/Support • Contact: Liz Burrill (eburrill@fs.fed.us)

Domestic I&M • Assist Federal, State, and other organizations to conduct forest inventories • Development of objectives and metrics • Sample design, plot design and sample size recommendations • Field guide preparation • PDR software • Database • Analytical Tool • Ongoing tech support as needed

International Assistance • NIMAC helps coordinate requests from Forest Service International Programs • Uses network of contacts to find right people and avoid duplication of effort • Many countries – 15+ • Numerous needs – DC, Analysis, IM, Stats, RS • Roster – Skills, languages, etc. • Contact: Andy Lister (alister@fs.fed.us)
