  4. Early Years Framework (EYF) • 1 year old! • Developed in partnership • 1 of 3 social policy frameworks • “Our children have the best start in life and are ready to succeed” • Focused on pre-birth > 8 • ECEC and other universal services key to prevention and early intervention

  5. ECEC in EYF • Flexible, accessible and affordable Strengthened ECEC to meet individual needs more effectively • Improved early years teaching skills • Increased qualifications of centre managers • Long term goal of fully integrated pre-school and childcare services
