Preventing Hate Crimes

According to the California Department of Justice, hate crimes are a continuing problem. The California DOJ released its Hate Crimes 2018 Report on July 2, 2019. The number of reported hate crimes was 1,066 in 2018.<br><br>Some disturbing statistics:<br><br>u2013Anti-Hispanic or Latino bias events rose from 126 in 2017 to 149 in 2018, an increase of 18.3 percent.<br><br>u2013Anti-Jewish bias events rose from 104 in 2017 to 126 in 2018, an increase of 21.2 percent.

  1. Added Security Needed: Hate Crimes In California According to the California Department of Justice, hate crimes are a continuing problem. The California DOJ released its ​Hate Crimes 2018 Report​ on July 2, 2019. The number of reported hate crimes was 1,066 in 2018. Some disturbing statistics: –Anti-Hispanic or Latino bias events rose from 126 in 2017 to 149 in 2018, an increase of 18.3 percent. –Anti-Jewish bias events rose from 104 in 2017 to 126 in 2018, an increase of 21.2 percent. –70 hate crimes took place in parking lots/garages –54 at elementary or secondary schools –54 in restaurants –50 in churches/synagogues/temples The numbers show that hate crimes often occur in public places. When those locations are patrolled by security guards to protect against hate crimes, the likelihood of these crimes happening is reduced. Instigators are less likely to spew their hate if a security guard is watching.

  2. Security Response​. ​If a physical or verbally aggressive hate crime occurs, the security guard will attempt to detain the criminal until law enforcement arrives. When the hate crime involves a physical altercation, First Aid-certified security guards will provide medical assistance as necessary. Retaining a security guard company to prevent hate crime activity and monitor areas where hate crimes are known to occur makes sense. They can prevent crimes from happening and ensure the safety of our most vulnerable populations.
