  1. Custom Shower Systems Surround Yourself... …with total comfort.

  2. Valves • Almost all valves installed in the USA are “concealed” valves. This valve type consits of two parts - the rough (the valve itself, which goes behind the wall) and the trim (the decorative plate and the handle). Rough + Trim = Valve

  3. Valves • There are three functions that shower valves must perform: • Control the water temperature and maximum water output. • Control the water volume to an outlet or diverter. • Control the direction of flow when multiple outlets are used.

  4. Thermostatic Valves Advantages of Thermostatic vs. Pressure Balance Technology Thermostatic Technology Pressure Balance Technology Ensures consistent shower temperature even when there is other water usage, such as washing dishes or flushing the toilet Utilizes Ceramic Disc technology for a lifetime of smooth, drip-free operation Allows you to pre-select your preferred water temperature Automatically maintains your pre-selected water temperature Satisfying high flow at ALL temperature settings

  5. Thermostatic Technology • Temperature is regulated via a Paraffin Wax Cartridge or core • In case of pressure variation the temperature stays +/- 1° F

  6. Thermostatic Valves • Pressure Balance Valve: Prevents scalding by compensating for fluctuations in pressure. Maximum mixed water output = 4.5 GPM (gallons per minute) • Ecostat Thermostatic Mixing Valve: Maintains water temperature to within +/- 1º F while delivering up to 13.2 GPM @ 44 PSI. This valve type requires the use of a separate volume control. • EcoMax Thermostatic Mixing Valve: Maintains water temperature to within +/- 1º F while delivering up to 20 GPM @ 44 PSI. This valve type requires the use of a separate volume control.

  7. Thermostatic Valves Ecostat Output specs • Porting ½ “or ¾” • Minimum incoming water pressure 20 PSI • Maximum incoming water pressure 145 PSI • Recommended Operating Pressure 44 - 80 PSI • Maximum Hot Water Temperature 165ºF • Recommended incoming Hot Water Temperature 120º - 140ºF • Flow Rate at 44psi 13.2 gpm

  8. Thermostatic Valves Trim,Ecostat Thermostatic Mixer • Metal Handle • 100º F Stop • Screw less escuction plate • Rubber escuction seal • Paraffin Wax Cartridge • Integral stops • Filter screens • Reversible cartridge • 13.2 gpm at 44 psi

  9. Thermostatic Valves Ecomax Output specs • Porting ¾” • Minimum incoming water pressure 20 PSI • Maximum incoming water pressure 145 PSI • Recommended Operating Pressure 44 - 80 PSI • Maximum Hot Water Temperature 165ºF • Recommended incoming Hot Water Temperature 120º - 140ºF • Flow Rate at 44psi 20 gpm

  11. Valves Volume Controls: 1/2” and 3/4” volume control valves are used as stop valves and to regulate the amount of water to one or more components.

  12. Valves Fix Fit Valve: The 1/2” Fix Fit Valve combines the benefit of a volume control and a wall outlet. A Fix Fit valve can be mounted near a shower bench or across from the main valving, eliminating the need to install an additional valve and a separate wall outlet.

  13. Valves Trio Diverter: The 1/2” Trio Diverter can be used as a stop valve and flow control for shower systems with two ports. A volume control is not required when using this configuration. With the Trio Diverter you can choose between a single function or two functions at one time.

  14. Valves Quattro Diverter: The 3/4” Quattro Diverter can divert water flow to one of three devices or any combination of two devices. It serves only to change the water’s direction and will not regulate the water flow. A single volume control must be installed in conjunction with this valve.

  15. Flow Rate Worksheet Product Water flow in GPM (gallons per minute) Showerheads 2.5 Handshowers 2.5 Bodysprays 2.0 Using the values above you can calculate the maximum flow rate of the shower system.

  16. The ThermoBalance Valve allows you to eliminate hot or cold water fluctuations and pre-select a precise water temperature to create a perfect, personalized experience. This valve also helps you avoid water adjustments and maintains water temperature. Plus, ThermoBalance features temperature control, volume control and a diverter in a single unit, making it one of the most user-friendly valves in the world.

  17. ThermoBalance Technology Enjoy every second of your shower with consistent temperature and water pressure of your choice. Thermostatic valves sense the temperature of hot and cold water flow at the mixing point. A quick-acting thermostatic spool compensates for variances in temperature, opening and closing hot and cold ports instantaneously to provide temperature adjustments in a fraction of a second – without dropping water pressure. 23. Premium Shower Systems What are the first steps in planning a shower system? • What do you want from a shower? • Where can I put a shower system? How much space will be needed? • How much do you want to spend? • What are the parts and components that are needed to create the a dream shower? • What about the water supply, drainage and other practical considerations? • Have all of the possible users been considered?

  24. Premium Shower Systems • Budget: A custom shower system can be designed to fit just about any budget. • Space: Can range in size from 30” X 30” to any customized dimension. • Enclosures: Contain splashing and create a private space, but not a necessity. • Water Flow: To power a shower system, we recommend 44 – 65 PSI. • Water Volume: Supply line must deliver more volume then output of shower system. • Water Heater: A well designed shower system encourages a longer shower. • Floor Drain: Install a drain (or multiple drains) which can handle the amount of water. • Local Codes: Vary from state to state. Be sure to understand and follow. • Time: We recommend that a shower system be installed by a licensed plumber. What should be taken into account when designing a custom shower system?

  26. Premium Shower Systems Where do I place the shower components? • Consider everyone who is using the shower. The tallest user’s height should be used to determine placement of showerhead. • Wallbars increase the versatility of the shower system. A wallbar and handshower will adjust to any user’s height. • The top BodyJet should ideally line to the user’s shoulders or upper back. • The middle BodyJet should line up with the user’s mid-torso or abdomen. • The bottom BodyJet should line up the user’s thighs or knees. • The ThermoBalance valve(s) should be quickly and easily reached by any user.
