  2. Contents • Slide 1 Cover sheet • Slide 2 Contents • Slide 3 Background • Slide 4 Electrical Power Requirements-1 • Slide 5 Electrical Power Requirements-2 • Slide 6 Electrical Power Requirements-3 • Slide 7 Foundation Pad Photos • Slide 8 Foundation Pad – Engineering Drawings • Slide 9 Shipping Container Contents-1 • Slide 10 Shipping Container Contents-2 • Slide 11 Engineering Documentation and Software • Slide 12 Electronic Subsystem Records • Slide 13 Shipment Inclusions • Slide 14 References • Slide 15 Acronyms

  3. Background • The potential recipients of the 11 Metre OVLBI antenna designated DSS33 have asked some questions regarding the antenna system and it’s possible transfer. These questions include: • What are the antenna electrical power requirements? • What kind of foundation is required? • Are there engineering drawings of the foundation? • What are the contents of the 4 x 40 foot shipping containers? • What engineering documentation is included with the shipment? • Does CDSCC maintain electronic files of each major subsystem of the antenna?

  4. Electrical Power Requirements-1 • The 2 antenna systems that require power and their requirements are: • Antenna Pedestal: • Voltage • 208/120V ac • Phase • 3-Phase, 5-Wire, including neutral and separate ground • Peak Consumption • 170 Amperes per phase, duration of 2 seconds or less. (Ref TM 18133)

  5. Electrical Power Requirements-2 2. Environmental Control System (air conditioning): • Voltage • 208V, 3 phase, 75Amp/Phase • Voltage Tolerance • Plus 10%, Minus 20% • Frequency Tolerance of 60Hz • Plus or minus 2% • Highest Single Harmonic • <3% of 60Hz voltage • Total Harmonics • <5% of 60 Hz voltage • Amplitude Modulation • < plus or minus 0.25% modulating frequencies below 10Hz (Ref TM 18133)

  6. Electrical Power Requirements-3 • At CDSCC 480V 3-phase power was supplied to a remote switchboard and transformer which were located adjacent to the antenna. The transformer converted 480V to 208/120V which was then supplied to the antenna.

  7. Foundation Pad-Photographs • The 7 x 7 x 1.22 metre reinforced concrete foundation pad

  8. Foundation-Engineering Drawings • A reinforced concrete foundation pad is required per Drawing # 9603882 (see attachment A)

  9. Shipping Container Contents-1 • All of the hardware associated with DSS33 (i.e. the whole antenna structure, electronic control racks and all spare parts) has been numbered, boxed and loaded into 4 shipping containers. Included with the shipment will be 2 electronic hardware lists detailing container contents: • The first list (see attachment D) is an MSExcel spreadsheet which identifies hardware by: • Item Number • Which Shipping Container the Item Number is in • Description (in some cases only, more detail in second list) • How many of the item are enclosed

  10. Shipping Container Contents-2 • The second list (see attachment B) includes Multiple MSWord documents which lists each item in the shipment by Item Number and includes information on: • Description • Manufacturer • Part Number • Serial Number • Federal/National Stock Number • Shipping Value • Unit of issue • Number of items

  11. Engineering Documentation(and software) • Engineering documentation and software to be shipped as part of this package (see attachment C) includes: • Approximately 20 CD’s containing software • Approximately 128 Documents including: • Technical Manuals • Software Specification Documents • Users Manuals • Instruction Manuals • Operation and Maintenance Manuals • Software Operators Manuals • Operations Test Plan

  12. Electronic Subsystem Records • CDSCC does not/did not maintain electronic file records of the status of the major antenna subsystems. • A database of ECO’s is kept by CDSCC Documentation (see attachment E). These detail changes to the antenna subsystems as directed by JPL, however, the main systems involved include only TCT, Data Recorders, SVS, Fibre Optic Cabling and Y2K software. • Reference was generally made to the Antenna Operation and Maintenance Manuals (RF, electronic and mechanical) for details on the status of antenna subsystems. • A record of civil engineering works (roads, drainage, electrical, lighting etc.) is available at CDSCC as AutoCAD files (see foundation slab drawing # 9603882).

  13. Shipment Inclusions • Included with the shipment will be: • 4 x 40 foot sea containers containing antenna hardware and spares (includes 2 complete Environmental Control System assemblies, 1 x new and 1 x used) • 1 x Documentation and Software Package • 4 x CDs (1 per container) containing: • 1 x Shipping List (attachment B) • 1 x Container Hardware List (attachment D) • 1 x Documentation and Software List (Attachment C) • 1 x Engineering Drawing of the antenna Foundation Pad (attachment A) • 1 x Engineering Drawing of the antenna Electrical Switchboard and Transformer Foundation Pad (attachment A_2) • Multiple electronic photographs of the antenna structure, foundation and ancillary equipment (attachment F). • 1 x Modkit/ECO Listing (attachment E)
