Purpose • To identify the skills requirements to support the deployment of renewables • Who is involved? • Energy and Utility Skills SummitSkills • Cogent Semta • Asset Skills Construction Skills • Lantra ECITB • This analysis is being undertaken in a 3 stage process: • Skills Analysis • Supply side analysis • Gap Analysis • This phase of the project is due for completion in June 2010

  3. Scope of the Job Roles analysis • The aim of the skills analysis is to identify which job roles are required to enable the deployment of Renewables. The following categories of roles have been considered: • New Renewables roles (Roles created by the deployment of Renewables) • Existing Energy Roles impacted by the deployment of Renewables • Significant increase in numbers due to Renewables (skills may not change) • New responsibilities or knowledge required to support Renewables (up-skilling) • Currently identified skills shortage that will be exacerbated by Renewables • Critical specialists, lead time for training significant, numbers may be small • The training courses and qualifications which support these job roles have been identified along with providers offering the courses. • The following slides illustrate the steps involved in the analysis.
