  2. 1 John 1:9-10,“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar and His word is not in us.”

  3. DoxologyPraise God, from whom all blessings flow;Praise Him, all creatures here below;Praise Him above, ye heavenly host;Praise Father, Son, and Holy (Ghost) Spirit.Amen.

  4. Passover Celebration in Jesus’ Time

  5. 1 Cor 5:7,“Clean out the old leaven so that you may be a new lump, just as you are in fact unleavened. For Christ our Passover also has been sacrificed.”

  6. Calendar of the Feasts of Israel and our Lord’s Fulfillment of them. First Fruits Rapture Millennium Second Advent First Fruits

  7. Passover, a 1 day feast, celebrated on the 14th of Abib/Nissan, commemorated the last plague against Egypt and the Jews freedom from slavery.

  8. It also signified the Lord passing over their sins, Lev 23:4 ff, Num 28:16.

  9. It should be celebrated joyously as it represents the completed work of Jesus to free us from the slavery of sin and our sin natures, Rom 7:1-6, 24-25; 8:1-2, which we do in our communion supper!

  10. Preparation:

  11. Preparation:On Abib (Nisan) 10, they selected the lamb. Jesus entered Jerusalem on the donkey on this day!

  12. The slaughter of the lambs would not take place until Nisan 14, Ex 12:6, between noon and 3 p.m. The day Jesus was crucified.

  13. Mark 15:33,“When the sixth hour (12 noon) came, darkness fell over the whole land until the ninth hour (3 pm).”

  14. On Nisan 13, they would search the house for any leaven, cf. Zeph 1:12. This pictured Christ’s sinless nature that qualified Him to be the spotless sacrificial lamb.

  15. On Nisan 14, they would slaughter the Lambs. This was a picture of Christ's sacrifice upon the Cross.

  16. Then they would gather for the celebration. As they did foot washing was applied, as Jesus replicated in John 13. Cf. Mark 9:35; 10:45, and then hand washing later on.

  17. The Cups. There were four ritual cups of wine used for the Passover that every man needed to partake of.

  18. During the meal a prayer is uttered over each cup, and the four verbs of Ex 6:6-7 are recited, one over each cup.

  19. The 1st Cup represents sanctification, signifying our Positional, Experiential and Ultimate setting apart based on the work of Our Lord Jesus Christ. Ex 6:6a.

  20. They would then eat the KARPAS, (bitter herbs), traditionally lettuce or celery, dipped in salt water or vinegar.

  21. It represented Israel’s sorrow in captivity, and our Lord’s anguish prior to and during the Cross; in the Garden of Gethsemane and “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me.”

  22. The 2nd Cup. It was poured, but not yet drunk. The “Cup of Deliverance/Joy/Praise”, represented the 10 Plagues against Egypt, and signified the Lord’s deliverance. Ex 6:6b.
