  3. OBJECTIVES • Use ICT to improve healthcare in rural areas of Cambodia • Develop mobile phone application for young people to consult their problems (STDs) with professional medical staffs.

  4. PROBLEMS • 81% of the population live in rural areas[1]. • In 2007, 40% of RHAC patients were affected with STDs [2]. • Unawareness of sanitation and inadequate access to care • Social and cultural barriers (Embarrassment of talking about STD)

  5. SMART: • provides the mobile phone service in Cambodia. • is the third largest mobile in Cambodia, 850,000 subscribes in 2011 [3]. • offers us free of charge SMS communication between a mobile client-based application and server. OUR PARTNERS

  6. RHAC (Reproductive Health Associated of Cambodia): • is a non-government organization which focuses on reproduction health in Cambodia. • was admitted as the Cambodian member of the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) [4]. • has provided the symptoms of STD, as well as medical advice regarding the design of the applications.   10. FINDINGS • Develop mobile application in Khmer interface. • Ability of using application depends on the level of education. • Change user attitude such as: less embarrassment of talking about STD, motivate users have medical consultant nearby them.

  11. Share knowledge of STDs to young Cambodian • Provide Computer Science students to concrete project of software engineering for social problems. • Published and received award for distinguished paper of conference JCAICT, 2011. CONTRIBUTIONS
