  3. Vocabulary • Addends – Are numbers being added. • Sum – Is the answer to an addition problem. • Minuend – Is the number being subtracted from. (top number) • Subtrahend – Is the number being subtracted. (bottom number) • Difference – Is the answer to an subtraction problem. • Regrouping – Is when you borrow a number from a higher place value or carry a number to a higher place value.
