Natural Gas • 6, 300 trillion cubic feet (tcf) is the worldwide reserve. • Compressed natural gas CNG (methane) is a cleaner alternative to other automobile fuels such as gasoline and diesel due to lower content of carbon particles. • The energy efficiency is generally equal to that of gasoline engines, but lower compared with modern diesel engines. • Gasoline vehicles converted to run on NG suffer because of the low compression ratio of their engines, resulting in a cropping of delivered power while running on NG (10%-15%).
