  2. About Us • Established on June 5, 1920 • Only federal agency tasked with focusing exclusively on working women • Mission: “…safeguard the interests of working women, advocate for their equality and economic security, and promote quality work environments.”

  3. Women in the Labor Force • Latest data for adult (20+) women (September 2019): • Unemployment rate: 3.1% • Labor Force Participation Rate: 59.1% • Employment-to-Population Ratio: 57.2%

Opioid Crisis • Women especially hard-hit • Direct effects: Death and unemployment • Indirect effects: Impact on employment and earnings; overall financial toll on families and the community • New grant program: • Re-Employment, Support, and Training for the Opioid Related Epidemic (RESTORE) • Employment training, career services, and supportive services to affected women
