  2. ASSEMBLY TIMING • 7:00 AM • Deputy University, Faculty, and Student Marshals; • Student Marshals carrying gonfalons meet at the stage to get the gonfalons and run through the ceremony with the Chief Marshal.

FACULTY MARSHAL INSTRUCTIONS • Deputy University Marshals go to named seats in the front row • after seating students • School Faculty Marshals sit with their students • Student seating is from theFRONTof the section to the rear. • The following items are prohibited: alcohol, noisemakers, fireworks, • beach balls, signs/banners, and balloons. • Students (and faculty) wishing to sit next to someone should line up • in front of or behind that person. The College will line up in alphabetical order.

MARSHAL ROLE DURING THE CEREMONY • Maintain order • Tell students to sit when they reach their seats so that others may see the procession. • Report any medical emergencies to the nearest Usher. • Conferring of degrees to Emory graduates will take place “in the order in which the schools of the University were founded, with one exception. The graduate school will have pride of place at the end to connote the highest degree awarded in course, the doctor of philosophy degree.”

RECESSIONAL INSTRUCTIONS • FRONT EXIT, BACK TO FRONT(start from the back row of your section) • Allied Health (Medicine follows, also from rear) • Business BBA • Corpus Cordis Alumni • Public Health • Nursing • BACK EXIT, FRONT TO BACK(start from the row closest to the stage) • Graduate School (both sides) • Law • Theology • FRONT AND BACK EXIT(start from front row and last row) • Business MBA

  11. GONFALON BEARERS PROCESSIONAL • After entering the Quadrangle, proceed directly to the stage and place the gonfalons in their proper places, then go stand at named seats in the front row. [Public Health and Graduate School continue down the flagpole sidewalk; turn left to the stage when Nursing has cleared the sidewalk. Student Marshals NOT carrying the gonfalons: go stand at named seats in the front row (either immediately or after you help seat your fellow students). RECESSIONAL When the Alma Mater begins, the Student Marshals go get their gonfalons from the stage and, together with the Deputy University Marshals, go stand by the students of their Schools and prepare to recess. College Student Marshals remain at their seats.
