  2. Anatomy and PHYSIOLOGY The branch of science concerned with describing the bodily structure of humans, animals, and other living organisms The branch of biology that is concerned with how the body parts function and work together ANATOMY PHYSIOLOGY

  3. THE SKELETAL SYSTEM We are born with more than 300 bones. As we age many of these bones fuse together to form 206 bones. Our bones account for 14-20% of our total body weight Axial skeleton Appendicular skeleton Is similar to the frame of a car in that all the major parts are attached and connect to it. It consists of 80 bones which are located in the skull, spinal column, sternum, rib cage and the sacrum Consists of the bones that connect to the axial skeleton, the way doors do on a car’s frame. It consists fo 126 bones found the arms, shoulder blades, forearms, hands, pelvic girdle, legs, and feet

  10. THE ROLE OF THE SKELETON The skeletal system has many important roles – four primary functions are: 1. Support and Movement 2. Protection • Skeleton provides a frame to which our muscles and organs attach • The body’s armour – protects vital, delicate organs such as heart and lungs (rib cage), brain(skull)
