  1. THE UKRAINIAN FOOD Ukrainians prefer to eat at home. We like homemade dishes. We to the restaurants for special occasions. Meal time is from 7 to 10 a.m. for breakfast. In general, Ukrainians eat a light breakfast. The dinner meal is usually rich. The dinner includes any soup or borsch and a meat dish, or a fish with salad. The third meal of the day takes place around 6 or 7 p.m. It is usually a time when all family members gather together. I like very much when we have opportunity to share our meal in family!

  3. Ukrainian national food is famous almost in all places of the world. Different floury dishes (pampushki, galushki, varenykyand other),meat dishes(Ukrainian sausages, poultry etc.), vegetable and dairy dishes (ryazhenkaand syrnyky), various drinks made of fruit and honey are very popular in Ukraine. But very famous and the most favorite dish all over the world is Ukrainian borsch.

  4. Borsch is cooked of fresh vegetables : a cabbage, a beet, tomatoes, meat, garlic and parsley. The combination of all these vegetables give the borsch its piquancy , aroma and unforgettable taste. There are about 30 types of Ukrainian borsch.Another very famous Ukrainian dish is varenyky. Varenyky are filled with cottage cheese, potatoes, stewed cabbage and berries in summer

  6. I would like to tell you how to prepare potato vareniki.You need:*2 cups of flour*1 egg*1/2 teaspoon of salt*mashed potato*salo (pork lard) and an onion*salt and pepper to taste

How to prepare?*To make mashed potato and cool it.*In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, an egg and salt.*Mix in a little water until dough is stiff.*Roll out dough on floured surface.*Using the rim of a glass cut circles of dough.*Fill each circle of dough with about 1 teaspoon of the potato.

  8. *To boil a large pot of water, salt it and drop in the varenykythere. They are done when they float to the top.*Cut some salo and one onion and fry them with the oil on a pan.* Then put varenykyin a big plate and pour salo with onion above and you can decorate it.Have a nice meal!Varenyky were cooked by OliaKovalska, Kyiv, Ukraine
