  1. The Four Regions of Texas Regions Puzzle Map

  2. What are we doing? • Students will be divided into groups of four. • Groups will create a Texas Regions puzzle map.

  3. Resources • Classroom Textbook • Atlas • Wall Maps • Internet • Texas Road Maps • Prior Knowledge

  4. Materials Needed • Map pencils • Markers • Glue sticks • Scissors • Large manilla paper • Patience and Hard work!!

  5. How it works • Each group has received an instruction sheet, rubric, and puzzle pieces. • Each member of the group will be responsible for a region of Texas. • Students will research their region. They will label all of the items listed on the label sheet.

  6. What else? • Each map should also have: • A compass rose • Accurate map key • Must be labeled appropriately • Be attractive

  7. Rubric • You have been given a rubric to follow. • Follow along as we go over the rubric.

  8. Group Member Cooperation • When the project is turned in, you will be given a group member participation sheet to fill out. • If a group member did not complete their assigned task, you will write that on the form. Grades will be assigned appropriately.

  9. Due Date • The Region Puzzle Map will be due Friday September 6, 2013. • You will have to stay on task and be dedicated to complete it! • Work Hard! Make Good Choices!

  10. Pre-AP Extension • Your extension is writing a 500 word essay on one of the regions of Texas. • You may pick any region you would like. • In your essay you will have to defend why you think the region is the best to live in.

  11. What’s in the Essay? It must include: • What region in Texas is best to live in and why? • Major cities • Major rivers • Natural resources • Agricultural Products • National and/or state parks

  12. When is it due? • The 500 word essay is due on September 6, 2013 at the start of class. • It can be hand written or typed. If hand written it must be neat. • You may add pictures if you like, but the content of the essay is what is important. • You will be receiving a rubric for the essay. • The essay will be completed out of class.
