  2. Who is Alexander Wang? • Alexander Wang was born and raised in San Francisco, CA • He later moved to New York City to attend Parsons School of Design. • In 2005 he decided to pursue the launch of his own label. • The collection began predominately in knitwear, represented by six unisex silhouettes. • In Spring 2007, it had evolved into a full Women’s ready-to-wear line and the collection

  3. In 2008, Alex received top honors as the recipient of the Vogue/CFDA Fashion Fund • In 2009, he was announced the winner of the Swarovski Womenswear Designer of the Year; and in 2009, he was the recipient of the Swiss Textiles Award. • Alexander Wang was acknowledged by GQ as Best Menswear Designer of the Year and by the CFDA for Best Accessory Designer that same year. • Alexander Wang opened its first flagship store, February 2011, in SOHO, NYC.

  5. Fun Fact #1: Who Knows Who This Little Girl Is?

  6. SPRING SUMMER ‘14 • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6yhwFk15WEE

  7. The Theme • In a vast pitch-black space on the New York piers Wang’s show had giant white grid scaffolding that seemed to be a never ending white zigzagging line • Wang was showing almost mirror images of outfits on the catwalk – showing first in black and then in white

  8. A clevertake on boy-girl dressing • The show features his x-ray and laser focus approach to his sporty style. • Wang’s update on his logo became the foundation of the collection • Perforated with his logo It was all about "playing with the duality of something understated and something graphic, something innocent and something perverse," • Alexander Wang

  9. He focused on menswear fabrics and giving them a sexy feel • He showed his skills using many different fabric techniques (bonding, printing, embroidery)

  10. Alexander Wang’s woman showed his softer side in this collection, while maintaing the geometric structure he is well known for • Wang moved to a softer colour palette including pale blues, pinks and greys • This collection had a sense of practicality

  11. Trends • Slouch hem trousers and shorts, Asymmetric tops

  12. New Logo

  13. Fun Fact #2: Who Can Indentify This Celebrity?

  14. Bonded Leather • leather pieces bonded together with latex binders into a fibrous mat. • The surface is coated with polyurethane to create an extremely durable topcoat

  15. 100% Cotton

  16. 100% Cotton • low luster due to the unevenness of the fiber surface, but can have a higher luster for longer fibers, mercerized cotton and fabrics with finishes. • Cotton fibers are typically off white, and are easily bleached and dyed. • Less drape than knit cotton, but still has quite a flexible drape. • Cotton is a woven fabric created from staple fibers being twisted together into yarns. • Wrinkles easily due to its low resilience to elastic recovery of the fibers, as well as it shrinks during the first few launderings due to the relaxation shrinkage. • The cotton in the Alexander Wang line, has been pre washed, as well as is dry clean only, as to prevent the possibility of shrinkage.

  17. Laser Cuts • The Engraving of leather is done through the laser sublimating the leather surface, meaning that the leather changes to its gaseous phase ("evaporates"). • With increasing laser performance and decreasing travel speed, the depth of the engraving is increased

  18. Digital Print • Digital printing is the method of using wide format printers to print directly onto the fabric. Dyes and pigments are used to produce inks for digital printing

  19. Embroidery
