  4. Virtual VirginiaOnline School • Offers a variety of courses including AP • Any HS student may request to enroll in VV • All course requests are subject to approval by the school Principal • Students may not take a VV Course that is being offered at the students home school

  6. Advanced PlacementAP • College Board • College Level Work while in HS • Requires Students to take an AP Exam and score at least a 3 out of 5 • Colleges determine if they will give credit • www.collegeboard.org

  7. AP Costs • There is typically a $90 charge to take the exam • Students demonstrating financial need may qualify for financial assistance

Dual Enrollment • Provides HS Juniors and Seniors opportunity to take College Level Courses while in HS • Earn High School Credit and College Credit at the same time • Must pass the course with a C or above (some courses are two part must pass part 1 to continue) • Must request a transcript from BRCC

  11. Cost of DE Courses • High School students pay about 20% of the cost of tuition • This year a DE Course Cost $30.56 per credit • Regular tuition at BRCC is $152.80 per credit (x3 $458.40)

  12. Additional Requirements • Require students to work online use Blackboard at BRCC • Purchase textbooks (DE classes only) • Must register for classes at BRCC (online or paper) • Receive an EMPLID # • Take required placement tests

  13. BRCC Testing RequirementChanges • Virginia Placement Test (must got to BRCC to take) • Exemption Scores • PSAT • SAT • ACT • Algebra I SOL for specific courses
