  1. Budy Valastro By: Adam Brandon And Justin Graves

  2. Buddy Valastro is a fourth generation Italian -American baker who runs a bakery called Carlo's City Hall Bake Shop in Hoboken, NJ. He is best known for the TLC reality show, Cake Boss, which features daily-life in the shop as seen through the eyes of Buddy, his family, and his staff. His work has been featured in books, newspapers, magazines, and TV. Buddy has three children, and three older sisters. In 2009, Valastro won $10,000 for a cake he made on Food Network'sBattle of the Brides. He is also the recipient of the 2009 St. Anne Festival Italian-American Award.

  3. Carlos Bakery was built in 1910. I'm a business man. First and foremost, you need to make money. We'll occasionally do a cake for charity, or there are times when you mess up, but you need to cover yourself, your time, and your expenses. • I'm really not the type of guy to turn down work. There are increasing demands, but I don’t want to downgrade on quality. You pick and choose your battles. People come in, and we talk about the ideas. I have cakes with flames coming out of them. We have cakes coming up with live birds. Some of these cakes are $10,000 or $12,000 cakes. They aren't cheap

  4. so you think you want to own a bakery • My advice is that you have to follow your own dreams. You can't deny it. But you have to be realistic. As much as it seems like we're busy, busy, busy, our overhead is humongous. You can't be starving artists. • A lot of cake decorators will work hours on a cake, and only get a small amount of money for it. You can't do that.

  5. Buddy Valastro is one of the most successful and renowned cake artists in the United States. Master baker of Carlo's City Hall Bake Shop in Hoboken, New Jersey, Buddy is the cake boss. He supervises a team that includes his mother, four older sisters and three brothers-in-law. And when you're working with family on a daily basis, there is bound to be a lot of drama. The Valastros know drama but and at the end of the day they also know love. Cake Boss chronicles Buddy's over-arching desire to achieve his late father's dream of making Carlo's Bake Shop a household name with or without the help of his family.

  6. TLC’s latest foray into the reality TV world — known as Cake Boss — sounds like it should be a cooking show focused on baking and sugary confections and anything coveredin frosting. Yum! And it is — sort of. But don’t expect to find a recipe in the show — at least not in the sneak preview pilot, which aired last night. Aww, not so sweet. No, TV watchers, Boss is less cooking show, more reality show about a a big Italian family in New Jersey owns a big bakery called Carlo’s. The Boss part of the title refers to Buddy Valastro (pictured), who’s in charge of the bakery and is the show’s "star."
