Brainstorming Warm-up:(Write the question) – Left side • List 3 items/objects in the room. • Now, brainstorm with your group members and ponder the following question: From your perspective, are any of the objects you listed moving? • Write the question and your answers on the left side page of your interactive notebook for title/#2. • Make sure you update your table of contents.

  3. From the girls perspective, why did the person on the platform seem to be moving?

  7. Hot Wheeling Physics Materials needed: Meter stick Masking tape Toy car Timer Worksheet/Pencil Ruler

  8. Procedures: Assign team jobs! • Materials handler • Racer/Tape remover • Recorder • Timer • * Each person is responsible for filling out their worksheet after the trials are completed.

  9. Hot Wheels Physics Procedures • Measure a racetrack (1.5 meters) in length • At start line, place a strip of tape on the floor and label it A • Divide the track into 5 sections. (Mark the next section B, C, D, and then E). • Hint! Each section should be 30 cmsin length. • At the end of 150 cms, mark the finish line with tape.

  10. Now, race! Speed=distance/time • Race your cars from point A to point B, then point B to point C, and so on…. • Don’t forget to record the times from point to point. • Go through all the trails. • When your group is finished, clean up, put supplies back, go back to your seat and finish the worksheet.
