  2. Why a flipped classroom? Research states…… Flipped Classes provide opportunities for students to become self-directed learners Self-directed learners become more successful in college Self-directed learners also become life-long learners

  3. The Good…... Students enjoyed watching videos for homework Students were engaged and built a strong community with each other The students became self-regulated and self-directed Saved time, more interaction with students

  4. The Struggles…... Technology was technology Students who did not have internet did not have the same advantages of other students Students would come in early to watch videos but that wasn’t always an option Students without internet access got behind in class

Traditional Flipped vs. Altered Flipped Classroom * students watch videos at home * project based learning occurs in the classroom * students must have access to the internet Altered Flipped Classroom * students watch videos in the classroom * project based learning occurs in the classroom * students do not need access to the internet at home

  12. How can K-5 students use digital tools? Students can create digital products and keep a digital portfolio of products. Students can create videos of understanding of concepts and present them. Students are able to re-watch videos to clarify information.
