How Does Heat Recovery System Works?

Heat recovery systems are designed to provide ventilation to buildings while also minimizing energy consumption. These systems are also known as mechanical ventilation heat recovery (MVHR) or heat recovery ventilation (HRV) systems. They work by recovering the heat that is typically lost during the ventilation process and reusing it to warm up the incoming air. This not only reduces energy consumption but also helps maintain a comfortable indoor temperature.   1. How Does Heat Recovery System Works? Heat recovery systems, sometimes referred to as mechanical ventilation heat recovery are intended to ventilate buildings while saving energy. EXTRACTION PHASE Stale air is removed from the building's interior via vents positioned in bathrooms, kitchens, and utility rooms. This air contains heat from activities like cooking, bathing, and even body heat from residents. HEAT EXCHANGE As the stale air flows through the heat exchanger, its heat energy is transferred to the exchanger material. Meanwhile, fresh air from the outside enters the system via a second set of vents. SUPPLY PHASE The heat exchanger preheats (or pre-cools) the entering fresh air, which is then dispersed throughout the building to provide a consistent supply of fresh air. BALANCING Heat recovery systems include sensors and controllers that alter the flow rates of incoming and departing air streams to provide optimal indoor air quality and energy efficiency. https://ermensystems.ie
