  6. 1. Take five minutes and think about why you do what you do.

  7. 2. Make a list of words and phrases that communicate your feelings about your work and your values about art. Be loose. Be happy. Be real.

  8. 3. Answer the following questions as simply as you can. Let them be raw and uncut for now.

  9. MEDIA SENSITIVITY What is your favorite tool? Why? What is your favorite material? Why?

  10. INFLUENCES What artist(s) influenced you the most for good or for bad and why. How can you connect their work to yours? Where do you see their influence in your work? Which one of your pieces most identifies with their work? Try to connect one of your titles or an element and/or principle of design to show the similarities or influences.

  11. What do you like best about what you do? Why? Can you use one of your titles to support what you like best about what you do?

  12. What do you mean when you say that a piece has turned out really well? Can you name one of your titles as support?

  13. What patterns emerge in your work? Is there a pattern in the way you select materials? In the way you use color, texture or light?

  14. What do you do differently from the way you were taught? Why?

  15. What is your favorite color? List three qualities of the color. Or substitute “color” for any of the elements or principles of art. Consider how these qualities apply to your work.

  16. Is there a theme that emerges in your work? Is there a particular piece that directed your theme? Can you name the piece?

  17. Is there a societal, historical or personal issue that emerges in your work or that you want to communicate in your work? Can you name a title that shows the issue?

  18. What is your concept of art? How has your idea of art changed?
